Handmade Steiner toddler dolls are each one of a kind, individually crafted traditional Steiner dolls made for us by Kristina. Kristina is a local German doll maker whose Steiner dolls are perfection!
Kristina has been a Steiner artisan for more than 40 years, originally working as a weaver and doll maker in a Camphill enterprise in Holland. The dolls are perfectly stuffed with pure Australian merino fleece, the skin is an organic Tricot fabric, the suits are made from pure cotton corduroy and flannel - such fabrics are becoming increasingly difficult to source here, if she can’t find here what she needs, she orders in from Europe. She often hand dyes the hair wool, suit and shoe fabric, and the wool to make curly haired dolls she ‘sets’ on pencils for several years before making the wigs.
Kristina's dolls are highly sought after and don’t last long in our shop - orders can be placed with two months notice (choose eye, hair and skin tone to reflect the child to guide the maker).
