Perhaps you may drop anchor from your vessel to secure the ship near land, row to shore to collect the treasure chest laden with silver (a stack of 5c coins, or Grimms small sparkling jewels will work beautifully) and return to the vessel to unload the treasure to hide it in the barrel onboard.
