This selection of candles are suitable for occasions of celebration - birthdays and other special celebrations, The 'ring candles' are the perfect size for Grimm's celebration rings.

Bring elegance to Advent and Birthdays with beautiful hand made candles made from pure beeswax. Our candles are naturally scented by the very nectar collected by the bees.

Our candles are made for Lyrebird in small batches by two dedicated traditional artisan candlestick makers. All of our artisan candles are either hand dipped or hand poured with much pride:

Quenton - uses wax sourced from local beekeepers hives placed on the edges of our local pristine Tasmanian old growth forests, particularly in the iconic Leatherwood areas.

Fiona - is an acitve member of the 'Lost Trades' organisation and uses wax from her own hives which are placed seasonally in a variety of floral locations giving off a fragrant blended medley of cottage garden and mixed natives.

* We stock a variety of candles in various sizes for Advent, for Winter Solstice, for Birthdays, for dinner, for any special moments of reverence.

TIPS:

* Pure beeswax will often have a 'bloom', a powdery looking surface, this is not a fault, rather a sign of the quality of the wax; if you polish the candle gently with a soft cloth this will remove the bloom and bring out the colour of the wax.

* If the wick is long (esp when new), or if it becomes long whilst burning, trim back to half a cm to ensure even burning.

* If a candle is too loose in a holder, press down and twist into the holder, a quality candle will generally be soft enough to mould into the holder. if the holder is still too wide to hold the candle firmly then melt a little wax into the holder and press the base of the candle into the holder until the melted wax sets around the candle

* The colour (and smell) of wax can vary from pale lemon to rich golden shades, this is due to the variation of pollens collected from different areas at various times of year

* For Advent: Four candles are tradition for Advent, to burn a new one on each of the four Sundays before Christmas day (one the first Sunday, two the second, etc) we recomend that you purchase a fifth candle if you may burn for an extended time, as the first candle may burn too low to have the four all burning on the final Sunday, its good to have a spare on hand as backup to avoid disappointment. We also sell thin sheets of coloured ‘decorating wax available by the sheet or by the pack of 12 or 18 if two widths (this is not yet on the web site but available from our shop stock on request)

* SAFETY: candle burning needs to be supervised, and ALWAYS burn a candle in a designated candle holder or a non flammable glass, porcelain, or metal container.
