Brand - Grapat

'Grapat' means 'a handful' in Catalan, the native language of Cassiana and Jordi, the founders and owners of Grapat, They started their business in 2015 after the birth of their first child Lola, they made simple toys for her from wood, they saw how much happier she was playing with natural and simple toys than the widely available commercial toys. They longed for a simpjle life and moved back to the countryside to live in Jordi's families old barn, it was here that they started Grapat. 

Grapat has grown and moved into a dedicated factory in a nearby town, but Cassiana and Jordi continue to work fulltime creating and making. All the work is still done by hand using sustainable quality timbers, hand painted using waterbased paints,

The mission of Grapat is "to work at the service of childhood"

“With Grapat, we want to make sure that every child has a free and respectful upbringing, filled with playtimes that are open-ended and free from expectations or judgement. The pieces should invite and incite their own genuine flair for creation. For this, we offer play material without instructions nor limits. Our duty as parents is to protect this sacred moment, without interfering, just observing and being present. Our motto is “be free, play open!”
